I knew I had to write a book after the third flight in which "the seat beside me" was the thrid time in a row that I had an immediate connection.
To back-up....
Flight One (for the purpose of this book) - 2nd leg of Boston to Baltimore to Rochester
I was in the window seat, and beside me a lovely young girl, Jamie (age 23??). We said a brief hello - and it wasn't until a good friend on mine Ken, came down teh aisle - giving me a hug and this girl a hug. Long story short.... he knew us both - and ends up she is the neice of my realtor! With my son's upcoming 21st birthday she gave me lots of good ideas!
Flight Two - JetBlue - JFK to Rochester - Seat 1C
As I boarded the plane - I was right in the first row. The gentleman in seat 1B looked up - and of course I remarked, "Bet you hoped this seat wasn't taken - sorry." Then noticed there was another lady in the window seat - so commented "Oh, a thorn between two roses!" Now if you know me - that's something I would say - in a playful manner. But of course as soon as I said it I thought - this guy doesn't even know me - great first impression....
But alas! He introduces himself - and lo and behold - he's my best girlfriend's boss! We had a lovely conversation on the 55 minute flight to Rochester.
Flight Three - JetBlue - Rochester to JFK - Seat 6B
Ever see anyone that you think you recognize but just cannot place them? Well - that was the case here. While waiting for the flight I noticed a lady I thought I knew. When I boarded - she looked up from stuffing her things under the seat and says - "Hi Bonnie!" - an of course - not remembering her name - I asked. "It's Staci." "Staci who? and how do I know you?", I continued. Turns out - she works in one of my old jobs - yes, we've talked on the phone, met at some happy hours etc. But truly did not know each other well....at least not until 55 minutes later when we landed! What a quick flight that turned out to be!
So....
as you can see - I just had to start a book (in my mind). Granted - all of these first 3 flights were connected to Rochester. But as time goes on - it's still amazes me the connections we all have (if we only talk!) Move over Kevin Bacon!!!
